9 Manifestos Command Presence

Here’s the ninth in a nine part series looking at the Manifesto Manifesto principles with a view to creating your own manifesto.

Did you note the upgrade in the wording of our ninth principle? We’re changing ‘crave’ to ‘command’. It’s more potent! Thanks AnnieD!

Manifestos matter. Whilst thoughts fade and speech can be silenced, manifestos are real. They live in many different physical forms so they can be easily shared. And, this keeps them alive.

Four questions to ask yourself when you sit down to start writing your manifesto relative to creating the future…

1 What’s your campaign?

If a manifesto is the first expression of your idea (principle 1), then your campaign, project or crusade lets others join in to make it a living reality.

My Manifesto Project is to create 1000 manifestos.

2 In what form will your manifesto exist?

We typically think of manifestos as being a set of words. Traditionally, they’re books or one-page documents. And, in this age of multimedia your manifesto could easily be a movie, YouTube video, image, song or…

3 How will you bring your manifesto alive?

You start by writing your manifesto and then bring it to life in a different form. The Filmmakers Vow of Chastity naturally became a series of movies. Find the form that best represents the key ideas of your manifesto.

4 What physical things will you create?

The Bible was just one representation of the Christian faith. They also built churches, had images of the Virgin Mary and Jesus on the cross. Turning your manifesto into a physical thing is like a photograph of your wedding day – it reminds you constantly of your commitment.

Work through these questions to start writing your manifesto. Share your results and/or ask questions in the comments below.
