A Blog I Read When I’ve Got Too Much To Do

Yesterday I posted that I had too much to do and some things I did to claw my way back to normal. Here’s one more thing I do…

I read Leo Babauta’s Zen Habits.

You may have heard of it? It’s one of the Top 25 blogs and one of the top 50 websites in the world. He has a mere 237,000 readers! Wow! Knockout!

Essentially, it’s about leading a simple, minimalist life. Even the simple design of his website espouses the same lifestyle: simple, minimal, graphic free, spacious, mostly black on white.

I generally go straight to his ‘start’ page. It’s a beginner’s guide to Zen Habits. I’ve read these pages a few times over the years. And, I’ll keep going back. They’re simple ideas that I can implement in my life to make it simpler and easier.

He has a list of his 20 most popular posts. Some of my favourite reminders include:

  • Breathe
  • Be Still
  • The Elements of Living Lightly
  • The Zen of Doing
  • Simplify and savour life
  • How Not to Hurry
  • Email Sanity: How to Clear Your Inbox When You’re Drowning.
  • Simple Living Manifesto” 72 Ideas to Simplify Your Life

There’s a double-edged point to this blog.

Firstly, I want to share with you someone I follow and get a lot of value from. Happy to salute Leo and his work and direct some more fans toward him.

Secondly, I’m asking you to consider what you do when you’ve got too much to do. And one step beyond this, I’m asking you to consider your lifestyle. What’s working for you? What’s not? I know for myself if my lifestyle gets out of whack then my work suffers. Perhaps this is the same for you?
